Many people have been led to believe that if they believe in God, God will prosper their lives. God will be with them wherever they go and support whatever they are doing. They would even do illegal activities and ungodly behaviors and pray that God would bless them. It is like robbing a bank and praying to God for protection and not get caught. One robber prayed, "God, if you allow me to steal all these money and not get caught, I will give you 1/3 of it." Or one girl prayed, "Lord, please help me not to get pregnant. I just want to show my love to my boyfriend." Or one guy claimed, "It does not matter what I do, God loves me and cares about me. He will protect me whatever I do."
They treat God as a god that does not care about right and wrong, but they do not understand that God is holy. The reason He died on the cross is because of the sins of this world. God hates sin, and anyone who claims that they believe in Him must walk in His righteousness. God understands that we are not perfect, and we will make the wrong decisions. However, God wants us to continue to pursue His ways despite our mistakes and failures. He wants us to turn away from a sinful lifestyle if we're going to experience Him.
God does not need our possessions or money. After all, He created the heavens and the earth. He owns everything that we see around us. When Saul tried to please God by offering sacrifices to God, God told him through the prophet Samuel that his obedience is more important than all his sacrifices. Our belief in God is a surrendering attitude towards our God. We believe because He is God and that God demands us to surrender our lives to Him so that He can direct our lives to His ways. When we surrender our lives to God, He then blesses our lives according to His plan and purpose, which is far better than we can imagine.
Ask yourself these questions: Why do I believe in God? What does God expect of me to do when I believe in Him? Am I willing to surrender my life to Him?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
