A BLESSED LIFE

When we think of a blessed life, we think of a comfortable life. For example, we think of a blessed person who has a good job, family, health, and wealth. Many seek God for the purpose of having a comfortable life. Seeking a comfortable life is not wrong; however, when it becomes more important than following God's will, we stray from becoming the person He intends us to be. Having a blessed life is not about having a comfortable life, but it is about a life that is centered in God's will. God is the source of everything that makes us comfortable. He is the one who provides us jobs so that we can provide for ourselves and our families. He is the one who provides us with opportunities to succeed in life. He is the one who gives us families, blesses our health, and provides more than what we need, but God's purpose in our lives is not to make us comfortable, but to make us the people who honor and glorify Him.
Isaiah 43:7 says, "Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made." We glorify Him in our lives when we live for Him. 1 Corinthians 10:31 explained it more in detail, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." We are more blessed when we align with God's will than when we possess everything in this world that brings us comfort. Good job, family, health, and wealth will go away like beautiful flowers that fade away. However, godliness leads to eternal life. Seeking to live a comfortable life is not a sin, but it becomes a stumbling block when it becomes a priority over glorifying God. Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
Let us not be deceived by the comfort of this world. We need to keep examining our hearts to find out where our priorities are. Our ultimate motive in life is to glorify God. We can find comfort in this world, but let us ensure that our top priority in life remains to live for our Lord Jesus.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it not good for me to prioritize my comfort over God? What is the purpose of my life? Am I willing to live in God's will over the comfort of this world?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that you are my provider. Everything that I have comes from you. Please help me not to focus on the things that you have provided for me, but to focus on you. Let me always remember that you bless me so that I can bring honor and glory to your name. I praise you for loving and caring for me. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
