THE GREATEST BLESSING

The greatest blessing we have received is our salvation through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. Since Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden and sin entered the world to bring death and suffering, God had been looking forward to providing the means to save us permanently. The prophets in the Old Testament prophesied about the coming of the Messiah (the Savior), who would deliver us from death and sin. Jesus came as the Messiah who saved us from our sins and gave us the greatest blessing of all—our salvation. God's blessings are more than the things that our bodies need on earth. It is true that we need food, water, clothes, and shelter to survive, but our spiritual salvation is more important than our physical needs because our bodies will turn to decay, but our spirits move on after death. During the time of the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus, He performed miracles and healings to prove that He was God so that people would believe in Him and be saved and have eternal life. Our Lord Jesus' ultimate goal was to save us spiritually.

Jesus said in Matthew 16:25-26, "For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?" What Jesus was saying is that we can gain everything we want in this life, but without salvation for our souls, it ultimately means nothing because we would face eternity in hell after we die. Our life is very short on this earth compared to eternal life after we die. God ultimately blessed us when He saved our souls from going to hell. Our Lord Jesus gave His life so that we could live, and this is the greatest blessing that we could ever receive on earth. 

Let us be thankful for the greatest blessing that God has given us. We have eternal life in Heaven because Jesus gave up His life for us. This blessing transforms our lives, giving us eternal hope and joy.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What is the greatest blessing that I can ever have on this earth? How did God provide this blessing for me? What should anyone do to receive this wonderful and greatest blessing?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I am rejoicing right now for the greatest blessing that you have given me. Thank you for saving me from sin and death and giving me eternal life in Heaven. You have transformed my life and given me a new meaning of life. My life and future are secure in you because of your blessings. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
