WORSHIPPING GOD

Updated: Feb 11, 2021

What is worship? It is an action word that means to express our adoration, love, honor, and reverence to someone. For example, to give honor to someone is to provide him/her with full respect, such as offering gifts, praise, or thanksgiving. So how do we worship God? Many people believe that worshipping God is to offer gifts, sing praises and thanksgivings, and doing good deeds for Him.

However, God wants more than what we can offer, sing, or do. God wants our whole body to be surrendered to Him. He wants us to live our lives for Him 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This is the reason Christianity is not a religion, but it is a personal relationship with the living God. It is more than going to church or Bible study, singing praise and worship, or serving in ministry. It is about living for Him.

I have a friend whose father is one of the leaders in the church. His father is very nice to people when they are in the church, but in their home, his father is full of anger. He yells at everybody and doesn't show love and compassion. His father is living a double-life. His father thinks that He is worshiping God, but he is far from worshipping God because of his actions towards his family.

We worship God when we obey God in our school, in our relationships with our families, friends, and co-workers. We worship Him when we express our love to Him by serving others and singing songs that express our love and thanksgiving. We worship Him when we come to church and Bible fellowship to know Him and serve others.

Ask yourself these questions: how are you living your life for God in your families, friends, spouse, or co-workers? If you are not living for Him, then why are you not living for Him?

Write down the problems that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I want to worship and obey you. Please help me to offer my body and life to you. I want to experience your presence in my life. Forgive me if I have been living a double-life. Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. May you help me know with my (mention your prayer requests). In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
