WILLINGNESS TO GIVE

As evening approached, five thousand people followed Jesus in a remote place because they had seen all the miracles that He had performed, and many of them wanted to be healed. Since it was getting late, many of them were hungry and tired. Jesus then asked Philip, one of His disciples, to buy bread to feed the five thousand people, but Philip replied that it would take more than half a year's wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite. Jesus asked Philip this question to test him, for Jesus already knew how He would provide food for the people. The disciples were entirely unaware that Jesus was going to use a boy who happened to had five small loaves of bread and two fish to feed the people (Matthew 14:13-21; John 6:1-14).

Without the boy's knowledge, he did not realize that Jesus was going to use his life to bless the five thousand people, and his story would become one of the wonderful stories in the Bible. The boy simply gave what he had to Jesus, and God blessed his life and the people around him. Whatever we give to our Lord Jesus, Jesus uses them to make a difference in someone's life. God loves us so much that He blesses us so that we can bless others, and when we give what He has blessed us with, He blesses us more. Many of us desire to serve God to make a difference in people's lives, and we can start by giving to Jesus what we have.

There are many things that we can give to Jesus: our time, money, effort, skills, possession, life, etc. Whatever God is putting in our hearts to give, we need to be willing to give because that is where God can bless our lives and use us in making a difference in the lives of people around us. Let us be like the boy with the five loaves and two fish. Let us become a channel of His blessings, and God, in return, blesses our lives. The more we give, the more He blesses our lives.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I willing to give what I have to Jesus? If not, why? Is there anything that God wants me to give at this time?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, you are the ultimate provider for everything that I want and need. Everything I have you have given to me. Please help me not hold on to the things you have given me, but to hold on to you. I want to be a blessing to others just as you have blessed my life. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
