WARNING AGAINST WANDERING AWAY

When we become a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and surrender our life to Him, it does not mean that our life will be perfect and free from sin. We will still struggle to doubt and be tempted to wander away from our faith, and wandering away from our faith is the most tragic thing that can ever happen to us. The lure of money and comfort of this world can overpower our desire to live for God. Or, the suffering of this world, whether that will be health issues, finances, relationships, depression, loneliness, resentment, unforgiveness, safety, etc., can challenge the foundation of our faith; thus, it may lead us to wander away from God. When we come to the point that God is not enough for us, we will be easily persuaded by the lies of this world that there is a better way to live our life other than living for God.

So what should we do when we are being tempted to wander away from God? The best thing to do is to keep on praying that God will give us contentment in Him. We need to open up to someone we trust to pray for us. We need to share our struggles with someone we trust. We need to read the Bible to allow God to speak to us through His Word and remind us of His promises. We need to go to a church that can help us understand the Word of God and help us grow in our faith in Him. We need to change our environment, such as not hanging out with friends that have a bad influence on us, going to places that lead us to sin, or watching movies or shows that corrupt our minds.

Our Lord Jesus came because we need a Savior and Lord in our life. He is preparing a better place for us because He knows that this world is passing away because of sin. Our God the Father sent His Spirit in us so that He can guide, comfort, and teach us His ways. Let us not be deceived that the ways of this world are better than the ways of God. This world does not have an answer to life. Only God has the answer to life because He created us with love and compassion.

Ask yourself these questions: How is my walk with the Lord at this moment? Am I being tempted to wander away from God? What should I do when I am being tempted to wander away from God?

Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, you know where my heart is right now, for there is nothing hidden from you. You know every thought and intent in my heart. Please do not let my heart wander away from you. Please give me contentment in you and change me to be the person you want me to be. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
