After Jesus miraculously fed the five-thousand people by multiplying the five loaves of bread and two fish, the people decided to make Him their king by force. Knowing their intention, Jesus departed from them and went to the mountain by Himself to spend time with the Father in prayer. Jesus did not want the people to make Him their king, but He wanted the people to believe in Him as their God and Savior. Jesus knew that the reason they wanted Him to become their king was that He could heal them of their sicknesses and provide food for them, but they were not willing to obey or submit to God's will.
While Jesus was praying in the mountain, the disciples got on the boat to go to Capernaum. It was already dark, and the wind started to pick up big waves on the water. Suddenly, they saw Jesus walking on water towards them, and they were afraid because they had never seen anyone walking on water. Jesus told them, "It is I, do not be afraid." Then they arrived at their destination. Jesus performed this miracle to prove to the disciples that He had power over nature and that their faith in Him would be strengthened.
God's will in our lives is to believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. For us to have Jesus as our Lord, we need to submit to His will in every area of our lives. Many people treat Jesus like the genie in the movie Sinbad. If they want anything, they can just say prayers, and they expect Jesus to give them whatever they want. However, they are not willing to submit their lives to Him. Others only want to be saved from their sins and go to heaven, but they do not have the desire to follow God. As believers, God wants us to walk in His will. We have a God that has power over nature, and He can help and provide everything we need. We only need to continue to believe and obey His will in our lives.
Ask yourself these questions: How does it affect my relationship with Jesus, knowing that He has power over nature? What does it mean to make Jesus as my Lord and Savior?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
