Waiting for God to answer our prayers can lead us to doubt and despair. We want God to answer our prayers immediately, especially in difficult and painful situations. We begin to doubt God's goodness and feel that God doesn't care or is too slow to respond to our situations. However, the truth of the matter is that God knows our situations because He never leaves or forsakes us. He knows exactly how we feel. He feels our pain and sorrow. God's purpose in our lives is to make us mature in our faith in Him. And He uses difficult situations in our lives to grow. When we are in the middle of our suffering, God allows us to exercise our faith in Him to strengthen our faith. When Lazarus was sick and dying, it was difficult and painful for Martha and Mary to see their brother suffering.
Although Jesus knew that Martha and Mary were in pain and Lazarus would die eventually, God used this situation to strengthen their faith because they would learn that Jesus was the resurrection and the life. Our sufferings are not the end of us, for our God eternally loves us. To properly respond to our sufferings is to pray and wait patiently for the LORD to calm and resolve our difficult and painful situations. God hears our cry for help, and He has the solution. All we have to do is to keep praying and patiently waiting for Him.
When we wait patiently for our God, we strengthen our faith in Him, producing peace beyond our understanding. Let us keep on trusting our God. Always remember that God cares and loves us. He is always with us no matter what circumstances we are going through. He is always there for us.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully and meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speaks to you). Do I believe that God cares and loves me? Why is it important to wait patiently for the Lord? What is the purpose of God in my life?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Father in Heaven, I praise and thank you for your love for me is eternal. I thank you that you are beyond my situation. Please help to wait patiently for you to resolve my circumstances. Please protect my heart from doubting and help me to trust you with all of my heart, for you care for me. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
