VISION IN LIFE

Writer: Danny DomingoDanny Domingo

Vision in life is something that we want to see ourselves in the future. It is something that we want to be. For example, if we are seniors in high school, we envision ourselves graduating next year and going to college next Fall. However, we can also extend our vision in life to five, ten, or more years from now. Having a vision in life helps us navigate our lives to the future because it is something that we will focus on achieving. The Bible is full of examples that encourage us to have a vision in life. For example, when Joseph interpreted Pharoah's dream that there would be an abundant harvest for seven years, then it would be followed by seven years of famine. Joseph and the Pharoah of Egypt envision themselves saving enough food during the seven years of famine so that they would have plenty of food during the seven years of famine. Because of their vision, they were able to save themselves and the people in the land.

We need to have a vision in life. It encourages us to plan for the future. So if we do not have a vision in life, how do we get it? We need to ask God for our vision in life. Since He is our Heavenly Father who loves us, He knows what is best for us. God gave us this promise in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I Know The Plans I Have For You' Declares the Lord, 'Plans to Prosper You and Not to Harm You, Plans to Give You Hope and a Future." If we surrender our future to God, He will guide us through this life, and we have to be willing to follow His directions no matter the cost. It is about trusting Him completely with our future.

The question then would be, how do we know His plan in our lives? We need to continue to live our lives for God and never stop asking him for vision. One way that God guides us in this life is He gives us a particular desire in our hearts. For example, He can give us the desire to be a doctor, a nurse, an engineer, an accountant, a lawyer, a minister, etc. So if we have a particular career that we have, we need to continue to pray about it and pursue it. That can become the vision in our life. One thing for certain is that God will never lead us to sin and destruction, so we can rest assured that whatever He is leading us to do will be for our good.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I have a vision in life? What should I do if I don't have a vision in life? Who can give me a perfect vision in my life?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you have a wonderful plan in my life. Please help me surrender my future to you and live for you to know your vision for my life. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
