TRUSTING GOD FOR TOMORROW

There is one thing a human being cannot do, and that is to know the future. No one knows what will happen to us tomorrow. We are here today and gone tomorrow. The new year is almost around the corner. A few more days, and we will be in 2022. Maybe some of us are already looking forward to 2022 and have many plans to make. However, one thing that remains is that we do not know exactly what will happen to us tomorrow. James 4:13-14 says, "Look here, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.' How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it's here a little while, then it's gone."

We had seen in the news what happened in Kentucky when a terrifying tornado ripped through a town and destroyed homes and buildings and killed several people. In a few minutes, many lives were changed. I remember when a tornado hit Dallas and came very closed to where I lived. I was sheltering under a parking garage when it passed through. I felt vulnerable and couldn't do anything. The only thing I could do was completely trust in the Lord because I believed He had my life and future in His hands. Our attitude for tomorrow should be to trust and surrender our lives to God. James 4:15-16 says, "What you ought to say is, 'If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.' Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil."

There is nothing wrong with planning for tomorrow. As a matter of fact, God wants us to make plans for the future. However, we need to surrender our plans to God and trust Him for our future. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."

Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe that God has my life and future? Do I trust God and surrender my plans to Him? How should I face tomorrow?

Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you have my life and future in your loving arms. Thank you for knowing what is best for me, and please help me trust you and surrender my plans to you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
