The Word of God is important in our spiritual walk with the Lord. The Word of God shows us how to live and function in this world. The Word of God is the basis on which we live and not the ways of our society. Hide the Word of God in our hearts means to treasure it. When we keep the Word of God in our hearts, we are allowing the Word of God to speak to our hearts. When we go through difficulties in our lives, allowing the Word of God to speak into our hearts encourages us not to give up but to keep persevering because God's promises give us hope. The Word of God guards our hearts against Satan's lies and schemes. We can discern the lies of Satan when we know the Word of God in our hearts. When we allow God's Word to reside in our hearts, it changes our thinking and behaviors. We become more aware of God's promises and truth.
How do we hide or treasure God's Word in our hearts? It is simply applying the Word of God in our lives. It is not just about reading and memorizing but about doing what the Word of God says. Moses encouraged Joshua with this verse in Joshua 1:8, "Study this Book of Instructions continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." I want to encourage you to read God's Word every day. You can read it in the morning when you wake up and read it again before going to bed. Having a Bible beside your bed is a great idea, so it is always available for you to read it. You can also download a Bible app on your phone for easy access.
Hiding the Word of God in our hearts means applying the Word of God in our lives. Let the Word of God teach us how we think and behave. If we want God to bless us, we must walk according to His Word.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully and meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speaks to you). What does it mean to hide the Word of God in my heart? Why is it important to apply the Word of God in my life? Is anything stopping me from applying the Word of God in my life?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me of the importance of hiding Your Word in my heart this morning. Please help me read your Word daily so I can apply it in my life. Do not let the business of life stop me from reading Your Word. I need your instructions and guidance every day. I want to walk in your ways, for it leads to abundant life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
