For the next several weeks, we will study the life and works of our Lord Jesus Christ through the book of Mark. To grow in our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to know Him through His Word. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." In order for people to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, they must hear about Him and believe in Him. Romans 10:14 says, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" We need to know our Lord Jesus Christ through our Bible to protect ourselves from false teaching and wrong assumptions of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we know our Lord through our Bible, we will then be able to see our problems in the eyes of God and not through our own understanding.

Many people have turned away from God because they do not know Jesus. If we want to know our Heavenly Father, we need to know Jesus because Jesus is the exact representation of our Father. John 14:9 says, "Jesus replied, "Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?" And John 6:46 says, "No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only He (Jesus) has seen the Father." If we want to know our God the Father, we need to know our Lord Jesus Christ. No wonder Paul said these words after He believed in Jesus, "What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ" (Philippians 3:8).

Let us know our Lord Jesus Christ through the Bible. Let us lay aside any understanding of our Lord Jesus that His Word does not support so that our faith may continue to grow and be strengthened.

Ask yourself these questions: What is the proper way to know our God the Father? Why is it important for me to know my Lord Jesus Christ through His Word? Am I willing to grow in my faith in the Lord Jesus?

Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Father in Heaven, thank you for your Word because it is through your Word that I can know Jesus. And the more I get to know Jesus, the more I get to know you. Please give me a hunger and thirst to know my Lord Jesus through your Word. Please strengthen my faith that I may walk in confidence in you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
