What is truth? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the truth is the body of real things, events, and facts: Actuality. The truth is the standard on which we base our beliefs. John 8:31-32 says, "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, 'If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" As believers and followers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we base our truth according to the life and teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. And this is the reason that the Bible is very important to us. The Bible is the word of God, and God gave us His Word so that we can know Him and His truth, for His truth can set us free from all the lies of this world. Jesus said this of Himself, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the source of truth that can give us life. And God gave us the Bible to teach us the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 4:4 says, "But Jesus answered, 'It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.''" As children of God, we need to understand that we cannot know the truth without faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and accepting and believing the Word of God, the Bible. We need to protect ourselves from false teachers that teach that we do not need to believe in Jesus and the Bible to know the truth.
The truth is what we based our salvation and life, and the source of truth is our Lord Jesus Christ and His word. There is no truth apart from our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the one who created everything for His glory.
Ask yourself these questions: What is truth? Who is the source of truth? Do I believe that Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible, are the source of truth?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I believe that Jesus is the truth, and Your Word, the Bible, is the source of your truth. Please protect my mind from all the lies of this world. Thank you that your truth has set me free by helping me understand and believe that only through genuine faith in my Lord Jesus Christ am I saved. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
