THE SOURCE OF FREEDOM

Jesus is the only source of our freedom from sin. Freedom from sin requires paying the penalty of sin. It is like a person who has been freed from prison after serving his time for committing a crime. After he meets all the penalty of his crime, he is free from the crime he committed. He is back to the community as an innocent man. His past crime cannot be used against him because it is fully paid for. In the same manner, Jesus paid the penalty of our sin, which is death, by dying on the cross on behalf of us. Our own personal death is not enough to meet the penalty of our sin because it requires an innocent man to die for our sin. Since we are the one who is guilty of our sin, we are not qualified to pay for our own sin.

Jesus came to this world as the savior of the world. There are no other gods and religions of this world that can pay for the penalty of sin. People try to pay for their sins by doing good and performing all kinds of rituals, but they can never replace the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. Since Jesus paid the penalty of sin through His life, it is only through genuine faith in Him that we can receive freedom from sin. The Scripture says that if the Son (Jesus Christ) sets you free, you will be free indeed. One of the reasons people are having difficulty believing in Jesus is because they want to work for their freedom from sin, but they will never succeed.

As believers, we are free from our past sin because Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. And since Jesus paid the penalty for our sin, we are completely forgiven. God cannot use our past sin to judge us because it has been taken care of by our Lord Jesus. Let us stop condemning ourselves with our past sin. We need to thank and enjoy the freedom that we have in our Lord Jesus. We also need to tell others about the freedom that we have in Him so that they can believe in Jesus and be freed from sin.

Ask yourself these questions: Who is the only one who can pay the penalty of my sin? What should every person in this world do to receive freedom from sin? What is my responsibility as a believer so that people can receive freedom from sin?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for providing me the means to pay the penalty of my sin. Thank you, Jesus, for paying the penalty of my sin so that I can receive complete forgiveness of my sin. Thank you for being the source of my freedom. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
