THE SOLUTION TO SIN

There is no sin that God cannot forgive, except not believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Mark 3:28-29 says, "Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin." The blasphemes against the Holy Spirit has no forgiveness because it refers to rejecting Jesus and refusing to accept His sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus' death on the cross is the only solution to sin, and if anyone rejects Christ, he/she is refusing to accept the solution to his/her sin; therefore, he/she will never have forgiveness of his/her sin. But any other sins that are committed will be forgiven. We can have the worst people in the world, but if they genuinely believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they will be forgiven.

Many people do not want to talk about sin because it makes them feel bad about themselves, but if they do not deal with their sins, they will never have hope of being forgiven by God. Some people believe that there are different levels of sins: sins that are committed against God and sins that are committed against others. This is a false understanding of sin. There are no different levels of sins. Every sin, whether against God or others, is equal in God's eyes. Sin is all about disobeying God's commandments. Jesus gave us the two greatest commandments in Mark 12:30-31: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

As Christians, we should no longer live in guilt and shame because of what we have done in the past. All the sins that we have committed and confess to God are all forgiven because of what Jesus Christ had done on the cross for us. We can ask God for forgiveness right where we are because we have direct access to the presence of God in our prayers. I John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." The moment we confess our sins (no matter what it is) to our God, we are completely forgiven.

Ask yourself these questions: What is sin that cannot be forgiven? What should I do to be forgiven of my sin? Once I confess my sin to God, do I believe that I am completely forgiven?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for providing me a way to be forgiven through the sacrificial death of my Lord Jesus. Please forgive me for all the sins that I have done and cleanse me from all of my sins. I confess all my sins to you. Thank you for forgiving me. Please help me now to live as a forgiven person and receive your peace in my heart, knowing that you have forgiven me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
