THE LIFE OF ESTHER

Today's devotion will conclude our study of the Book of Esther. Esther began in a humble family situation. She lost her parents during the time when the Jews were scattered everywhere because their enemies conquered their land. She was adopted by her uncle, Mordecai, and lived in the capital city of the Medo-Persian Empire in Susa. They still had many enemies, which was why Mordecai didn't want Esther to let everyone know her ethnicity. Living in the culture that she was in, women were not highly favored. Queen Vashti lost her position because she disrespected the King, and all the nobles ensured that would never happen to them. Despite Esther's disadvantages, God had a wonderful plan for her life. Who would have ever thought that one day she would become the Queen of the most powerful Empire at that time? Who would have ever thought she would save her people from destruction one day?

God is the only one who can turn an orphan girl into a wonderful queen. God has never forgotten Esther, even though she lost her parents at a very young age. God took care of her through her uncle, Mordecai. Mordecai loved and cared for Esther. Even when Esther became Queen, Mordecai was watching over her. Esther suffered much, but one thing that she didn't lose was her faith in God. Her faith in God carried her through her life, and that gave her the confidence to face impossible situations. She was the one that encouraged Mordecai and her people to pray for her as she put her life on the line to speak to King Xerxes. May the story of Esther encourage us that God is at work in our lives.

Psalm 18:16 says, "He reached down from Heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters." God would never leave nor forget us. Our God is always beside us, and we are responsible for trusting and walking in His ways. Our faith in God allows us to face impossibilities and accomplish things beyond our capabilities. When we walk in faith in God and walk in His ways, God does amazing things in our lives. So let us continue to walk in faith in God and walk in His ways.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Do I believe that God is at work in my life today? How is my faith in God? Am I walking with the Lord?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for always working in my life. Please help me to walk in faith in you in all my difficult situations. Please guide me to make the right decisions and direct me to the right path. Please help me to walk in your ways and seek after you so that you may accomplish your wonderful purpose in my life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
