Prayer is a crucial part of our spiritual life. It is like oxygen to our body. Without oxygen, we will not be able to live. Similarly, without prayer, we will not be able to have a relationship with our God. Prayer is a direct communication to our God, and Jesus came to sacrifice His life so that He could establish a way for us to connect with our Heavenly Father. Jesus came as our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). Jesus represents us to the Father, and He represents the Father to us. John 14:6 says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." We established our relationship with God the Father through our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and this is the reason we pray through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. John 14:13-14 Jesus said, "Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."
As believers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we all have direct communication to our Heavenly Father. As a result, prayer should be our lifestyle. Prayer should be a part of who we are. It is through prayer that we exercise our faith in God. It is through prayer that we rely on Him. It is through prayer that we experience His power in our life. The prophet Elijah experienced the power of God through his earnest prayer. James 5:17-18 says, "Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."
Let us not underestimate the power of our prayer. If we want to experience the power of God in our life in this new year, let us make prayer an essential part of our life. So how do we do this? It is very simple. We can talk to our Heavenly Father at anytime and anywhere through the name of our Lord Jesus. You can thank and praise Him. You can ask God for direction, guidance, wisdom, protection, provision, healing, forgiveness, etc. God made it simple for us to communicate with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ because He loves and cares about us.
Ask yourself these questions: What is prayer? Who made it possible for me to have direct communication with my Heavenly Father? Why is prayer is an important part of my relationship with God?
Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for providing me a way to communicate with you directly through my Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Jesus, for being my Mediator to my Heavenly Father. Please help me make prayer an important part of my spiritual walk with you. Please help me to pray every day and every night. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
