THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Jesus is not only the door of the sheepfold that protects the sheep from the intruders or allowing lost sheep to come in, but He is also the good shepherd. The good shepherd is willing to sacrifice his life in protecting his sheep from danger. He is not like a hired shepherd that when the sheep are in danger, he leaves and hides from the attackers. There are times when we feel that God does not care about us, especially when we go through difficult problems. We often ask the question, "Why God?" or "Why me?" However, Jesus never leaves us. He is always protecting us even when we do not feel His presence.

King David wrote Psalm 23 to express his gratitude towards God of being His good shepherd, “The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever."

Just like King David, we need to trust our Lord with everything in our lives. Our Lord knows our needs, and He is faithful to take care of us. He will never abandon or give up on us. He will be with us until the end. However, many people do not know that Jesus is the Good Shepherd. God wants us to let them know that He wants them to become His sheep and join His sheepfold through our Lord Jesus, so let us not be afraid or hesitant to let them know about our Good Shepherd.

Ask yourself these questions: How does it affect my life, knowing that Jesus is my Good Shepherd? What does God want me to do to those who do not know that Jesus is the Good Shepherd?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for being my Good Shepherd. I am so blessed to know that you are always there to take care of me and that I am never alone. I pray for my family and friends that do not know you. Please give me the wisdom and the knowledge to let them know about you. I pray that they will come to believe in you. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
