THE GOD OF HISTORY

Although Nebuchadnezzar was not a follower of the God of Heaven and had an evil intent to conquer the world for his own glory, God allowed him to conquer the known world, and he became the most powerful king in the world during his time. According to the dream that God gave him and interpreted by Daniel, he was the first kingdom that would conquer the world, then the second kingdom after him was the Medo-Persian empire. The Medo-Persian empire defeated Babylon in 539 BC. Medo-Persians would eventually be known as the Persian empire. It was during this empire that Esther became queen. The third kingdom that would come after the Persian empire was the Greek empire, led by Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great defeated the Persian empire, and at the age of 25, he conquered the known world. When Alexander the Great died, his vast empire was divided by his four generals, which led to disunity and strife against each other. Eventually, the Roman empire, the fourth kingdom, conquered all the Greek territory and became the most powerful empire in its time. Our Lord Jesus was born, died, and resurrected during this time.

The Roman empire would eventually be dissolved and turned into today's countries. The last and final empire, which is the fifth kingdom is the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ will come and destroy all the kingdoms of this earth and establish His throne in Jerusalem, and we will reign with Him on this earth for one-thousand years (Revelation 20:1-6). It is so amazing that all these five kingdoms were included in Nebuchadnezzar's dream: the Babylonian empire, the Medo-Persian empire, the Greek empire, the Roman empire, and the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our God is the God of History, and he knows the past, the present, and the future. No matter what is going on in this world today, God already knows what will happen to us, for He holds our future in His hands. So when we feel anxious about tomorrow, especially about what will happen in this country or the world, let us remember that Christ's kingdom is coming, and we will reign with our Lord Jesus on this earth. There is nothing that will happen in this world without going through the hands of our God.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe that God knows my future? What should I remind myself when I feel anxious about what will happen in this country and the world? Do I trust God about my future?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that you are the God of History, and you are the beginning and the end. You hold my future in your hand. Please help me trust you when I feel anxious about tomorrow, especially about what is happening in this country and the world. Please help me to live out the life that you want me to live out. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
