THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Jesus identified Himself as the door of the sheep as a metaphor to illustrates that He was the only way to salvation and abundant life. The sheep are kept in a sheepfold for food, water, and protection from harm and danger. The shepherd always goes through the door, and anyone who does not enter through the door is a thief and a robber. Jesus is the door, and the sheep are the people who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. No one can go through us without going through our Lord Jesus. Jesus is our protector. One thing about being a sheep is that it is defenseless against its predators, such as wolves, lions, and bears. In addition, it can easily be stolen because it is a slow-moving animal. As a result, it needs constant protection.

Just like the sheep, we are defenseless against our spiritual enemies. Jesus said that Satan's goal is to kill and destroy us, but He came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). When we are in His sheepfold, we are safe in His presence. We know that the door is strong enough to withhold Satan's deceit and scheme to destroy us. However, any sheep that is not inside God's sheepfold is lost and in danger of being destroyed by Satan. There is nothing that can protect them. These are the people who have not believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Satan can easily deceive them and lead them to the slaughterhouse.

As the sheep of God, we need to let others know that the safe place to be is in God's sheepfold, and to enter God's sheepfold, everybody must enter through the door, and that is our Lord Jesus. Our families and friends who have not genuinely believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior must enter God's sheepfold. If we care about them, we need to let them know and pray for them that they will believe in Jesus. It is not too late for anyone to enter God's sheepfold. If we are already in God's sheepfold, we need to completely trust in Jesus that He is always there to protect us from harm and danger from our spiritual enemy, Satan.

Ask yourself these questions: Why is it important to know that Jesus is the door to the sheepfold? What is my responsibility as God's sheep to those who are not yet in God's sheepfold?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for being the door to God's sheepfold. Thank you for your provision and for giving me eternal life and protection. Please give me the wisdom to let my families and friends, who have not yet believe in you, know that you are the door to salvation so that they may enter your sheepfold. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
