THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN

How did sin affect human beings, the world, and everything in it when it came into the world? When Adam disobeyed God's commandment, the world fell into sin. Sin reign in all creation, and everything became under its power. Even we as human beings became corrupt in sin. The moment any of us was born, we are already in the power of sin, although we did not know what sin is or how to sin. However, as we grow, we will automatically learn or do sin. Have we ever wonder that no one taught us how to lie or be mean to each other growing up? Where did we learn to disobey or steal? Sin became a part of our nature, which is known as our sinful nature or flesh. Galatians 5:19-21 described more about our sinful nature, "When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these."

As sin manifested itself in us and into the world, death and suffering entered in because the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Our physical bodies are susceptible to age, sickness, and death. Even the wealthiest person in the world cannot save himself from illness and death. The world that we are living in is slowly deteriorating. When we see a new nail and leave it outside, we will find out that it will rot into rust automatically. Many people, including us, suffer because of the sin of others. Wars, genocide, violence, and corruption are the result of greed, pride, and wanting to be in control over others.

So what is the solution to sin? The solution is to have a savior who can save us from our sin and its consequences. We praise and thank our Heavenly Father because He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to come into our world to save us from our sin, and give us eternal life. Our Heavenly Father is also preparing for us a new place, called the new Heaven.

Ask yourself these questions: What is the consequence of sin? Why do I sin? What is the solution to my sin?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, although I was born in the world that is under the power of sin, thank you for saving me. Thank you for coming to rescue me from sin and death. Please help me to do what is right and not give in to my sinful desire that I may honor you with everything that I do. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
