TEACHING AND REMINDING OF GOD'S WORD

God's goal in our lives is not only to save us from our sin and give us eternal life but also to teach us to live in a new life in Him. Before we were saved, we were under the power of Satan and sin. We were in darkness, not knowing the ways of God. However, when Jesus came to die on the cross for our sin, and we believed in Him, God saved us from the power of Satan, forgave our sin, and gave us eternal life. We became a new person. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new has come." Since we are now living in this new life in God, God sent us the Holy Spirit to teach and remind us of God's ways.

The Holy Spirit is not just an ordinary spirit that we see in movies. The Holy Spirit is God, and He lives in us. Although we do not see Him, He is active in our lives. He is the one that helps us understand and reminds us of the promises of God in the Bible. He guides us into all truth as we trust in the Lord. I have so many times that the Holy Spirit encouraged me with God's promises when I was discouraged and fearful. I remember when I was still in seminary, and I needed a part-time job to support myself. I was worried because I couldn't find a part-time job that could fit my class schedules, so I prayed and asked the Lord to guide me. As I was praying, the Holy Spirit reminded me of a verse that I read before, and it says, "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19). As the Holy Spirit was encouraging me with this verse, I felt reassured that God would take care of me and provide me a job. Sure enough, a week later, the Lord guided me to a part-time job that worked well with my class schedules.

God speaks to us through His Word, and this is why we need to read and study God's Word. The Holy Spirit will always be there to help us understand God's Word and remind us of God’s promises to comfort us.

Ask yourself these questions: How does the Holy Spirit help me with my walk with God? Why is it important for me to spend time with the Word of God daily?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to help me understand your Word and remind me of your promises. Please give me the desire to spend time with you daily so that I may know your will in my life. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for always being there to teach me. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
