STAY IN GOD'S TRUTH

In the Old Testament, God chose the nation of Israel to be His own people. Deuteronomy 14:2 says, "For you are a people holy to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth." God chose them to walk in His ways so that they would represent Him to the rest of the world so that the world would know and believe God. However, they turned away from God because they wanted to be like the other nations worshiping other gods and following their sinful desires. Jeremiah 2:13, "For My people have done two sinful things: They have turned away from Me, the well of living waters. And they have cut out of the rock wells for water for themselves. They are broken wells that cannot hold water." The people of Israel decided to follow the ways of this world instead of God. As a result, they lost everything. Other nations eventually conquered them. They cried out to God for help, but God answered them by saying, "But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!"

How could the Israelites turn from the truth and ways of God? The reason is that they bought into the lies of this world. They thought that their ways were better than God's ways. We, too, can fall into the same mistakes that the nation of Israel did. When we choose any ideas or teachings that the Word of God does not support, we can easily go on the wrong path. Jesus is the only answer to all the problems that we are facing. Jesus came to us to save us and bring forgiveness and new life. The source of the problem in this world is the human heart. No matter how good a system or a government is, corruption and injustice will breed if the people in the positions do not follow God's truth. Our Lord Jesus is the only one who can change the human heart to do what is right and godly.

Let us persevere in God's truth no matter what happens around us. God is faithful and true. He is the only hope of the world that can bring justice and order to our lives. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).

Ask yourself these questions: Why did the nation of Israel forsake God? What must I do not to make the same mistake that the Israelites did? Why is it important for me to stay in God's truth?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for leading me to your truth. Please protect my heart and mind from straying away from your truth. I pray for America that your truth will reign in the hearts of the political leaders so that they may choose your ways. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
