SET OUR MINDS ON THE THINGS ABOVE

Whatever we set our mind on, it is what influences our attitude and character. If we sit still right now, close our eyes, and see what is in our mind, what would it be? Is it our work, school, homework, Covid-19, health, politics, family, friends, relationships, appearances, sin, social media, video games, chores, task or project lists, ministry, the Bible, God, or something else? There are so many things that our mind can think of, and sometimes it can be very overwhelming. But the Spirit of God is encouraging us to set our minds on the things above. It means that God wants us to dwell our mind on the promises and truth of God that is found in the Bible.

When our mind is filled with the promises and truth of God, we will become aware of the presence of God in our lives. Sometimes, we are so focused on the things that are going on in our lives that we start to forget that God is in control. We need to remind ourselves that God is faithful to take care of us no matter what happens in this world.

If we feel overwhelmed with the things of this world at this time, I want us to find a quiet place, close our eyes, and let us take a deep breath. While we are taking a deep breath, remind ourselves of this promise and truth of God, "...I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5), or you can think of this verse, "I AM A CHILD OF GOD- John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave them the right to become children of God." (John 1:12). Let us keep on reminding ourselves of who we are in God.

When we dwell our minds on the promises and truth of God, we will then be more aware of His presence in our lives; thus, it gives us peace and joy in the midst of our circumstances. God is and will always be bigger than our problems. He will always have our future in His mighty hands.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I willing to dwell my mind on the promises and truth of God today? Can I make time and find a quiet place to meditate on the word of God today? Why is it important for me to dwell my mind on God's promises and truth in the Bible?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayers:

Father in heaven, thank you for reminding me today to dwell my mind on your promises and truth. Please forgive me if I have not been meditating on your promises and truth. Please help me to take time to remind myself of your truth and promises and believe in them. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
