Our relationship with God is not based on our good works, but it is based on God's grace. We did not earn our salvation, but it was freely given to us because of our faith in our Lord Jesus. The thought of being good so that God can accept us is not completely true. God indeed wants us to be good, but that is not enough for God to accept us. The only way for God to accept us is to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ genuinely. Our Lord Jesus sacrificed His life on the cross so that He could die for our sins. Our good works are not enough to pay for our sins because it requires death to pay for our sins, for the penalty of sin is death. No one can go to heaven without believing in the Lord Jesus because He is the only one who can save us from our sins.
One of the reasons that the religious leaders during Jesus' time failed to believe in the Lord Jesus was that they relied on their good works. They could not accept the fact that it was through faith alone in the Lord Jesus that they could be saved. Even today, many religious people rely on their good works. They believe that if they go to church every Sunday, pray a certain mantra, give gifts to the poor, perform all kinds of rituals, or be good to others is enough to be accepted by God. However, the Bible tells us that none of them is good enough to be accepted by God.
God accepted us because of our genuine faith in our Lord Jesus. If we doubt our salvation, we need to remind ourselves that we are saved because of our faith in the Lord Jesus, not on our good works or performance. There is nothing that we can add to what Jesus had done on the cross. His death is enough to pay for all the sins that we have done. Our salvation is eternally secure in our Lord Jesus, no matter what happens in this world. There is nothing that can separate us from God because our salvation is based on His grace alone.
Ask yourself these questions: Am I saved through grace alone or my good works? Why did Jesus die on the cross? Why is it important for me to believe in Jesus?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
