RESTORE WANDERING BELIEVERS

How many times have we heard that Christians have turned away from God? We have heard Christian artists that used to sing for God, and now they don't believe in God anymore. We probably heard pastors and Christian leaders who committed immoral sins that hurt many people and abandoned their faith. The truth of the matter is that all of us are prone to wander away from God if we stop putting God as our priority in our life. I remember the person who helped me to grow in my spiritual walk when I gave my life to the Lord went back to the world. It is always tragic when believers, who have full of faith and enthusiasm in the Lord, have wandered away from God. So what is our responsibility as Christians to those who have wandered away from God? Our responsibilities are to continue to love and forgive them and help them back to be restored in their faith in the Lord.

I know it is difficult to help someone who has chosen not to walk with the Lord anymore, but we can continue to pray for them. James 5:20 says, "remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins." Our Lord Jesus did this to Peter after Peter denied Him three times. Let us not be quick to judge or gossip against someone who has wandered away, but let us be quick to forgive and love those who have wandered away. Let us continually pray for them, especially when God reminds us of them. Let us avoid debating whether those who wandered away from God were even believers in the first place. God called us to be the light of the world and shine His truth and love so that He may use us to lead people from darkness to the light.

We need to continue to prioritize God in our life so that we can guard our hearts against wandering away from God. We need to reject spiritual laziness, such as not praying, not reading the Word of God, and not going to church. In this new year, we can all make a new year resolution to put God as our priority because when we put God as the priority in our life, everything will start to fall into its place and lead us in the right direction.

Ask yourself these questions: How is my walk with the Lord at this moment? Am I wandering away from God? If I am, what can I do to go back to God? Do I know someone who is currently wandering away from God? What is my responsibility as a believer to that person?

Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, You are the God of grace, mercy, love, and restoration. Would you please restore those that we know that wandered away from You? Would you please help them to see that You are their God who loves and forgives? Please restore their faith in you and repent of their sins. As for me, please guard my heart against wandering away from you. Please help me always to put you first as the priority of my life. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
