RECONCILED WITH GOD

The consequences of our sin are not only physical death but it is also spiritual death. Because of our sin, our relationship with God was broken. Since God is Holy and cannot tolerate sin in His presence, we were separated from Him. When God removed Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden after Adam sinned, it was difficult for God to do it, but He had to do it because of their sin. In Isaiah 59:2, it says, "But your sins have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear." As Adam was separated from God, we too became separated from God. After Adam left the Garden of Eden, he entered into an imperfect world filled with sin and death. Adam and Eve were no longer immortal, and their children (us) became corrupt and enemies of God. Romans 5:10 says, "For if while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!"

Although our relationship with God was broken, and we became enemies of Him, God never completely abandoned us. It is God's nature to love His enemies. Jesus said this in Luke 6:27, "But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you." As a result, although we became God's enemies, God pursued us with His unconditional love. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." It is because of God's love that our Lord Jesus Christ saved us from our sin.

We always need to remember that God saved us from our sin because He loves us. Let us be encouraged today that we are saved not because of what we have done or offered to Him, but we are saved because of what our Lord Jesus Christ had done on the cross for us. Since Jesus had done it all for our salvation, we only need to put our faith in Him, and He will change us to be the people that He wants us to be. Let us live as God's beloved children.

Ask yourself these questions: What happens to my relationship with God after Adam sinned? How did God reconcile me to Himself? What must I do to be saved from my sin?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for reconciling me to yourself through your Son, Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, for what you have done in my life. It is because of you that I am reconciled to my Heavenly Father. Thank you, Father in heaven, for pursuing me with your unconditional and sacrificial love. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
