PURCHASED BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST

Although our salvation did not cost us anything, our Lord Jesus cost Him His life. It is through His blood that He redeemed us from our sin. It says in 1 Peter 1:18-20, "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but now in these last days he has been revealed for your sake."

God knew from the beginning of time that He would pay the price of our sin someday. He could have changed His mind to redeem us with His blood, but He didn't change His mind; instead, He was determined to buy us back with His blood because He loved us. There was a dog that was rescued from a very abusive owner. The dog ended up in a dog impound facility. No one wanted to buy him because he was fighting everybody. Many of the buyers were scared of him, but a man took notice of him. The man decided to buy the dog, but he knew it would be a sacrifice to have him. The man carefully fed the dog because he didn't want to get bitten. But as time went by, he was able to pet the dog. It turned out that the dog was very smart. The reason that the dog was very aggressive in the beginning was that he was scared and was just protecting himself.

Just like the dog, we were lost in our sinful condition. Although we weren't attractive and very expensive to redeem because of our sin, God took notice of us. He paid the price with His life so that He could have us, and when God had us, He started taking care of us and teaching us His love, kindness, mercy, and grace. God redeemed us because we are precious to Him. He loves each one of us with His sacrificial love.

Ask yourself these questions: How did God redeem me? Why did God redeem me? Now that God redeemed me, how should I live my life?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in heaven, thank you for redeeming me with the precious blood of your Son, Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus, thank you for redeeming me with your precious blood. Thank you for loving me sacrificially. Please help me to continue to know you and learn what it means to live for you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
