NOT WANTING ANYONE TO PERISH

The judgment of God or the wrath of God is not always taught in the church because it is not an encouraging message to those who do not believe in Jesus or those who do not understand God's judgment. But if we want to know God, we need to understand His judgment because it is a part of Him. We call Jesus our Savior because He came to save us from our sin so that He could rescue us from God's judgment. Jesus said, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him" (John 3:36). God will someday judge all the wickedness in this world, including those who hate God and reject Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It seems that wickedness is winning in this world as we look at the news and what is happening around us. We are witnessing the complete disregard for life and the Word of God. Revelation 21:8 says, "But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Although the judgment of God will come upon this earth, God did not create human beings for His wrath but righteousness. God wants to restore everyone to Himself, and this is why God has not executed His judgment on this earth because He is waiting for the sinners or wicked to believe in Him so that they, too, will be saved. 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." God is allowing us to stay longer on this earth to be a witness to those who are not saved. God called us to share the love of Christ and the gospel with those who do not know the Lord so that they will have a chance to be saved.

We who are saved do not need to worry about the coming judgment of Christ because Jesus already saved us from His judgment. However, as long as we are still alive on this earth, God called us to tell others about Jesus because God wants to use us to save others from His coming wrath.

Ask yourself these questions: How could a person be saved from the coming judgment of Christ? What happens when I genuinely believe in Jesus? What does God want me to tell others now that I am saved from His wrath?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for saving me from Your coming judgment. Thank you for helping me to understand that you do not want people to go through your wrath, but the only way that they can be saved from your wrath is to believe in the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Would you give me the courage to tell others about Jesus so that you can use my life to save others from your coming judgment? I pray that my loved ones who do not know you will come to know you today. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
