NOT MY WILL BUT GOD'S WILL

Before Jesus was arrested, beaten, mocked, and crucified, He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He knew that it was time for Him to carry the sins of the world and die for them for the salvation of those who would believe in Him. It was also during this time that He would commit Himself to die on the cross because it would be very painful for Him to go through. Jesus had the power not to go through the suffering to save us by destroying all His creation. Jesus had the power over the force of nature. He had angels who were ready to defend Him if He wanted to. Humankind had no match against Him, who created everything. However, here's what Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." (Mark 14:36).

The cup that he was referring to was the suffering and death that He was about to experience. Jesus surrendered His life and will to the Father to save us from our sins. In the same manner, we need to completely surrender our life and will to our Heavenly Father. There is no around it. We have to be willing to let go of our dreams, wants, and needs over His will in our lives. The biggest source of our discontentment in life is not letting go of what we want in this world and accept what God's plan in our life. For example, are we willing to sacrifice all our comfort and desires to follow Him?

We can either accept Him as Lord in our life or not. Our salvation is free, but following Him will cost us everything. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23). Let us be brave and courageous children of God to let go of our dreams and wants and accept God's plan and purpose in our lives. Let God be the Lord of our life because God created us for His honor.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I willing to let go of my rights, wants, desires, and dreams and accept God's plan and purpose in my life? Am I willing to let go of controlling my life rather than surrendering it to the Lord? Do I trust God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that you are my God. I acknowledge that you saved me through the death and resurrection of my Lord Jesus. I also acknowledge that you created me for Your glory and honor and not for myself. Please help me to let go of my dreams, wants, and desires and accept your purpose and will in my life. Please give me the courage and strength to give up everything to follow you. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
