When God led the people of Israel through the desert to go to the land that God had promised them, God's presence was in the midst of them. They were in the desert for 40 years, and through all of those years, there was not a moment that God left them. There were many situations that God got angry at them because of their unbelief and rebellion; nevertheless, He never abandoned them. God's presence is always in the midst of them. During the day, God provides clouds for them to protect them from the sun's scorching heat, and during the night, God provides fire for them to give them light in the pitch darkness of the desert. They passed through places where there was no water, yet God miraculously provided water through a bouldering rock.Â
The people of Israel were very special to God because He chose them as His people. Similarly, we are special to God because He chose us before creating the world (Ephesians 1:4). Although we did not know God when we were born, God revealed Himself to us through our Lord Jesus. Since we genuinely believed in the Lord Jesus, God has been with us. He has been faithful to us even when we are in doubt and sin. The main reason God is always with us is that He lives in us. This is something that this world cannot explain. How can the God of the universe who created everything lives in us? God has chosen to live in us because He loves us. Since God lives in us, nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Â
Just like God took care of the people of Israel in the desert, God takes care of us. He is always present in our lives. He knows everything that is going on in our hearts, and there is nothing that we can hide from Him. So what is our response to this wonderful truth? We need to be always thankful that God chose to live in us. We need to live a life that is pleasing to Him. Let us be confident in our lives that the God of the universe is living in us, and He is always there to guide us and help us in time of our needs.Â
Ask yourself these questions: Why has God chosen to live in me? What should be my response in knowing that God lives in me?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
