God brought us from darkness into light in order for us to live in the light. We were once a slave to sin and no hope of salvation. We were all destined for eternal hell; however, because of God's love towards us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from the slavery of sin and change our destiny to heaven. Jesus sacrificed His life on the cross for us so that He could give us a new life. Sin did a terrible thing in our lives. It separated us from God, and it brought misery and despair. Sin brought sickness, sorrow, pain, and death. This is the reason God hates sin. He knew that there is nothing good that could come out of sin. Sin always destroys what is good.

God is encouraging us today to live in the light and do what is right in God's sight. One thing about sin is that it grows in secret and isolation. Sin loves to stay in darkness because it can hide. It is like cockroaches that come out in the dark, but they scatter and hide in the light. If we are doing something that we know that is sin in secret, we need to surrender that sin to God and turn away from it because sin will never give us peace, but it only brings guilt and shame. Our sin will lead our hearts away from God and drives us to a double life. Sooner or later, we do not want to hear the truth because it brings guilt and shame, and by then, it may be too late for us to turn back to God until something drastic and painful experience that happens to us that we will humble ourselves to God once again. But by then, sin already destroys what is good in us.

There are many Christians who walked away from God's truth because they love their secret sin. However, it destroyed their life, relationship, family, children, career, and future. Many of them turn back to God, and God has forgiven them, but they are still living in the consequences of their sin. Some of them are divorced, lost their promising career, living in a lonely relationship or marriage, or even in prison. We have to listen to God's truth and willing to turn away from sin. God has brought us into the light and given us the opportunity to know His truth through His Word. Let us continue to live in the light and not in darkness.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I have a secret sin that I am not willing to surrender to God? What should I do to turn away from my secret sin? What is God's promise that He will do if I confess my sin to Him? What else can I do besides confessing my sin to God to help me get rid of my secret sin?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for bringing me from darkness into light. I confess all my sin to you, and please forgive my sin and help me not keep in secret. Please help me to confess it to someone I trust so that I can bring it to light and receive support and encouragement to turn away from it. Please help me not to stay in darkness. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
