LIVING A SURRENDERED LIFE

The main reason that many people did not believe in Jesus during His earthly ministry was that they loved their sins. They did not want to come out of the darkness. Jesus said this in John 3:19, "And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil." Jesus came as the light of the world. He came to save us from sin and teach us how to live in the light. Many people loved the miracles that Jesus performed, but the purpose of His miracles was for them to believe in Him as their Lord and Savior. The rich young ruler went to Jesus and asked for confirmation that God accepted Him by obeying the Law of God, but Jesus told him that he lacked the very important thing, and that was to sell everything that he had and follow Him (Mark 10:17-27). Jesus wanted the rich young ruler to not only obey the Law of God but to surrender his life completely. Since the rich young ruler loved his possessions, He decided not to surrender them. It was tragic because he was so close to being saved from his sin and receiving eternal life.

If we truly believe in the Lord Jesus, we need to be willing to surrender our life to Him. Let us not become like the rich young ruler. All he wanted was to be saved but not surrender his life. He wanted what He could get from God, but He did not want to live for God. As true believers, we are blessed to receive our salvation from God and surrender our life to Him. Therefore, if anything we are doing is not pleasing to God, we need to surrender it, be willing to change, and do the right thing. James 4:12 says, "So whoever knows what is good to do and does not do it is guilty of sin."

Let us live a life that is pleasing to God, and if we are struggling with sin because of addiction or whatever the source of our sin, we need to be willing to surrender it to God and find someone that we can trust to confess it to and be willing to ask for help for accountability. God doesn't want us to live in darkness or sin, for He already has taken us out of the darkness. Let us continue to live in His light that we may live in joy and peace in our hearts.

Ask yourself these questions: Am I willing to surrender everything to God? What keeps me from surrendering my life to Him? Do I believe that the ways of this world are better than what God can bless me with?

Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for saving me through my Lord Jesus Christ. Please forgive me for all the sins that I have committed. Please help me to surrender my life to you completely. Please help me overcome my sins and addictions and give me the courage to reach out to someone to help me overcome my sins and addictions. I want to live my life for you and surrender everything. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
