One thing for sure about our life on this earth is that it is temporary. We were born yesterday and be gone tomorrow. No one knows when our last breath on this earth will be, except our Lord Jesus Christ. One thing that is common for both the rich and the poor is that they both die. Both of them do not have control over their life span on this earth. Jesus asked this question: "Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" The answer is no one. When God determines in His sovereign will that our time is up on this earth, we will move on. No matter how much we want to live on this earth forever, we cannot because we are not meant to live here forever. God designed heaven for us, who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ by surrendering our lives to Him. Our eternal home is heaven, so there is a wonderful life beyond our life on this earth.
Yesterday, one of my best friends, who faithfully served with me in the community, went to be with the Lord. His death was very surprising to all of us. I could not understand why God took Him home, but one thing I know is that He is now in His final home in heaven with our Heavenly Father. I am very thankful that I got to know him and had the opportunity to serve with Him. I was very inspired by his passion for knowing and serving God. Someday, it will be my turn to go home, but in the meantime, I will be faithful in knowing and serving our Lord.
So what is the purpose of our life on this earth? Are we just here to live to work, have fun, and die? I believe it is more than living on this earth. It is about living for God. God has given us the opportunity to live on this earth and let us live for Him. There is no greater thing that we can do on this earth than to serve our Lord. Someday we will stand before God after our time on this earth, and we will give an account of how we live our lives on this earth.
Ask yourself these questions: What is my purpose in life on this earth? Where is the final home of those who believe in the Lord Jesus by surrendering their lives to Him? How should I live my life on this earth?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for saving me through your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving me an eternal hope that someday I will be with you in heaven forever. I understand that this world is not my final home, so please help me live for you by knowing and serving you passionately. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests).
