LISTENING TO GOD

Have you ever been in a situation where your friend is talking to you, but your attention is elsewhere? You can hear your friend's voice, but you are not listening to what he/she is saying. On the flip side of it, you also experience being ignored. It can get frustrating, especially when you are sharing something that is important or concerns you. In my own personal life, I have offended many people for not paying attention to what they were saying because I was too focused on my thoughts and what I wanted to do that I blocked everything else in my mind. However, I also experienced being ignored. Communication is a very important part of our relationship with God and others. And proper listening is a very important part of communication.

God is always communicating with us. There are times we feel that God does not communicate with us, but the truth of the matter is that He always communicates with us. He speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. The word of God is a living word, and it can speak into our hearts and reveals God's truth and love into our lives. When we read the word of God and examines it carefully, we are allowing God to communicate with us.

Since God communicates with us all the time, we need to pay attention to what He is telling us. We will then be able to know God's will in our lives and situations. Too often, when we read the Word of God, we read it without thinking it through. We skim it through, and then we move on. Or, we ignore what God is telling us because we want to follow our own ways. Let us continue to listen to God because that is the only way we can live for Him. His ways are always better than our ways. As we read the Bible verse this morning, let it speak into our hearts and listen carefully that we may apply it in our lives.

Ask yourself these questions: What is the important part of communication? Am I willing to listen to God? Am I allowing God to speak to me through His Word?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you are always speaking to me through your Word. Please help me to listen to you. Please give me the desire to listen to your Word so that you can guide me through this life. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
