LET US BE PATIENT

The Lord Jesus promised us that He would come back again for His church. John 14:3 says, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." Although we are going through various trials that can push us to our limits, we must remember that all these trials will pass away. Trials that pertain to our health, relationships, finances, education, work, family, ministry, politics, sin, death, etc., will all end someday. As a result, our Heavenly Father encourages us to be patient. James 5:7 says, "Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains."

Just like a farmer expectantly for the harvest to come, we need to be expectant for the coming of our Lord also, and as we wait for that day, we need to be patient. No one knows when our Lord Jesus will come back for us (Matthew 24:36), but He could return this coming new year. At any moment, our Lord will come back and take us to be with Him and restore everything that we have lost because of sin. In the meantime, let us not lose faith and grumble against each other. James 5:9 says, "Don't grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!" Instead, let us pursue peace with each other. Hebrew 12:14 says, "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."

So let us be patient until our Lord's coming. We face various trials in this world because of sin, but let us be encouraged, for we have an eternal hope that awaits us. Let us not lose heart, but let us walk by faith, knowing that our Heavenly Father is in control of every circumstance that we face, and He has our future in His mighty hands.

Ask yourself these questions: What should I do as I wait for the coming of my Lord Jesus? What should I avoid and pursue as I wait patiently for the coming of the Lord?

Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, You are the only one who knows when my Lord Jesus will come back again to take me home to be with Him. As I wait on that day, would you please help me be patient and pursue peace with others? In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
