KING XERXES MADE A DECREE FOR THE JEWS

After King Xerxes executed Haman, he gave Haman's land and possession to Esther and promoted Mordecai to Haman's position in his presence. Esther put her life on the line again when she went to the King's court uninvited. But the King presented his scepter to Esther again to forgive her and allow her into his presence. Esther bowed down to King Xerxes and pleaded to overrule the decree or the law Haman crafted to destroy all the Jews in the Medo-Persian Empire's provinces. Since the King approved Haman's decree to destroy all the Jews with his signet ring, he could not overturn it, but the King made another decree or law that all the Jews in his kingdom could protect themselves and destroy anyone who would attack them. A copy of the new law was distributed to all the provinces. And when all the Jews read the new law, there was gladness and rejoicing in all the Jewish community (Esther 8:1-17).

Esther was able to stand before the King to save her people because of her faith in God. She put her confidence in God, which made her brave to put her life on the line for her people. Our faith in God is a very important part of our lives. Faith allows us to walk in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:5 says, "So that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power." Esther and Mordecai saw God's deliverance to their people. God gave favor to Esther before King Xerxes. The story could have turned the other way, where all the Jews, including Esther, were destroyed. However, God had another plan, and His plan stood in the end.

Let us walk in our faith in God. Let us walk in God's power and not on our own understanding. Our faith in God gives us confidence and courage to face any difficult circumstances in our lives. In whatever situations we face today, let us look up to God for direction and wisdom. Keep trusting God, and we will witness His deliverance according to His plan and purpose.

Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully and meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speaks to you). Why is it important to walk in faith in God? What happens when I trust God in my current situation? Am I walking in faith in God?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, you are the God who created everything, and nothing is impossible for you. Please help me to always walk in faith in you. Please help me trust you in every area of my life and not rely on my understanding. I want to walk in your power, which is only possible when I put my faith in you. In your name, Jesus, I pray, Amen.
