JESUS IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE

After Jesus met Martha and Mary, He was deeply moved in spirit because they were all weeping and grieving because of Lazarus' death, then the Bible says that Jesus wept (John 11:35). Why would Jesus weep since He was going to raise Lazarus from the dead? Jesus was not weeping because of the death of Lazarus, but He was weeping because of the pain that death could bring to us. Death is the general consequence of sin. All of us, whether we are Christians or not, are susceptible to death because of sin. Jesus came to give us eternal life and to resurrect us from death when He takes us home to be with Him in heaven for eternity. As believers, death is not the end of us, but it is the beginning of a beautiful and fantastic life.

When Martha and Mary were mourning because of the death of their brother, Lazarus, they could not wholly comprehend that Jesus was the resurrection and the life. Jesus allowed their brother to die to demonstrate to them and the others that He was the Savior of the world that could give life to those who would believe in Him. The resurrection from death is possible because our Lord Jesus Christ conquered death on His death on the cross and resurrection from the tomb on the third day. We have the assurance that we will live with our Lord Jesus and our Heavenly Father in heaven when we passed on from our life on this earth.

As we face our new day and a fresh week, let us be confident that we have eternal life in our Lord Jesus. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our life and resurrection. No matter what happens to us, God has our lives in His hands, and there is nothing that can separate us from Him. Let us not live in fear, but with freedom from fear, for our God has conquered death for us.

Ask yourself these questions: What did Jesus conquer on His death and resurrection for me? How should I live my life knowing that I have eternal life in the Lord Jesus Christ?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for being my life and resurrection. I have eternal hope because of your death and resurrection. Please take away my fear and live in confidence in you, knowing that you have my life in your hand. In your name, I pray. Amen.
