I PRESS TOWARD THE MARK

As children of God through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we all have the goal to finish the race of our Christian walk in this world. Our finish line is when we meet Jesus face to face. Our Christian walk refers to our daily walk of faith and obedience to our Lord Jesus. Every morning that God has blessed us in this world, it is our opportunity to live for Him and continue the race that God has set before us. Our race is not a sprint but a marathon. It is not about how fast we live in this world, but how we live our lives day by day for His honor and glory. At the end of the race, we will receive our heavenly prize for which God has called us. Our life in this world is only temporary. We are all just passing through. We are here today and gone tomorrow, so let us not hold on to the things of this world but live for Him and finish our race.

There was a believer who got so busy on the things of this world that he didn't put his walk with the Lord as a priority. He was busy with family, work, and friends that he didn't think of God much until he found out he had terminal cancer, and the doctor told him that he had few months to live. As soon as he found out that he had few months to live, everything in this world did not matter anymore; throughout his chemotherapy and surgery, his relationship with God became a priority in His life. He realized that life in this world is temporary, and the only way to live is to live for God. As He lived his final days for God, God blessed his life and relationship with His family and friends.

A day will come when we see our Heavenly Father face to face. Our race is individual and not a group. God determines when each of us will finish our own race in this world. If we are struggling with our walk today, let us continue to trust in the Lord because our Lord Jesus is always with us, ensuring that we will finish our race. Let us never give up, but keep on persevering. In the end, we will receive the heavenly prize that awaits us, but until then, let us continue to finish the race that God has before us.

Ask yourself these questions: What race is the verse talking about? What does it mean to finish the race? What do I think about the heavenly prize I will receive at the end of my race?

Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, you hold my future, and you determine my time in this world. Thank you for reminding me today that I am just passing through this world and that I need to prioritize you in my life. Please help me to finish the race well. Please help me live for you today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
