One of the reasons David never lost his faith in God, even when he was in sin or facing a life-and-death situation, was that he knew God. He described God in Psalm 62:11-12 in this way, "God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you; unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely, you repay all people according to what they have done." Today, I want us to meditate on God's power, and tomorrow, we will meditate on the unfailing love of God. David knew that God was powerful. Nothing can stand against God. He has absolute control over the past, present, and future. Satan and the evil forces that bring chaos in this world and blind the unsaved people bow down before God. There are no circumstances in our lives that are beyond His power to handle. God is the only one who has control over the existence of life. He blessed and judged people according to His righteousness. He is the giver and taker of life, and He is the only one who can save people from sin. God is all-knowing, and all present that nothing can hide from His presence. He knows our deep thoughts in our minds and the hidden motives of our hearts. He forgives and makes a person new.
When David faced his enemies, whether he was outnumbered or unable to fend for himself, he always relied on the power of God. When he was still a shepherd, God protected him from the lions and bears. When he fought Goliath, the power of God worked within him to kill Goliath. David admitted that God was the one who brought victory in his life. All of us need to remember the power of God that works within us. No matter what is going on in our lives, we need to believe that God's power works in us because we are His children. God allows us to go through difficult situations because He is building our faith in Him and shaping our character to be the people that God wants us to be. God's intention for us is to make us like Him and not to destroy us. God is so powerful that He will not allow us to go through difficult situations that we cannot handle. As a result, we can face our problems and concerns today with His power.
When we understand God's power and trust in Him, we can wait patiently or rest in Him in the middle of our concerns and problems. We should all remember that God's power is working in us, for God is always with us.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully, meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Describe how powerful God is. How does knowing the power of God affect my daily walk? What is God showing me through today's devotion?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that you are a powerful God. Nothing can stand against you, and my concerns and problems are nothing compared to your power. Please help me resolve the problems that I am going through today. Please protect me and give me the strength and wisdom that I need to go through today's challenges. I pray all these things in the name of my Lord Jesus. Amen.
