Absolute power without love leads to tyranny. We all have seen tyrants or dictators rule over their people. They use their power to rule with fear and intimidation. However, when fear is no longer there, no one wants to follow them. This is not the case with our God. Our God is all-powerful, yet He loves sacrificially. His limitless power works with His unfailing love. In yesterday's devotion, we focused on God's power, but today, we will focus on God's unfailing love. David wrote this in Psalm 62:11-12, "God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you; unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely, you repay all people according to what they have done." God's unfailing love relates to the sacrificial love of God towards the world and His people. God has an absolute right to judge the world because of sin today, but He is waiting patiently for them to repent (2 Peter 3:9). God still gives them time to choose and believe in Him before it is too late. However, there will come a time when God judges this world, and it will be too late for those who still choose not to believe in Him. Â
For believers, God shows his unfailing love by being patient with us. God knows that we all have weaknesses and fail from time to time, but His love for us never changes. God does not tolerate sin in our lives, and that is the reason he disciplines us so that He can lead us back to the right path. God forgives us when we sin and is patient with us when we doubt Him. God showed His unfailing love with David when he committed murder and adultery. We can easily judge David for what he had done with Bathsheba and her family. David deserved to die because of what He had done, but God forgave and restored him when he repented of his sin. God's unfailing love never gives up, no matter what we have done or what our situations are. His unfailing love gives us hope and leads us to a godly life.Â
God is all-powerful and loving. God uses His unlimited power to show how much he loves us. God could have used his unlimited power to destroy this world because of sin, but he demonstrated His love by dying on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. God loves us with unfailing love.Â
Questions for application:Â (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.)Â What does it mean God loves me with unfailing love? What can I learn from today's daily devotion?Â
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
