What is a miracle? A miracle is something that happens that is not ordinary in the physical world. For example, casting out demons in our Lord Jesus' name, speaking different languages instantly without learning it, being bitten by a poisonous snake without getting hurt, drinking poison without getting sick, and placing our hands to sick people they get healed. We cannot do all these miracles without God's intervention. It means that we cannot do all these miracles within ourselves. And so, how is this possible for us to do? It is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit that is living in us. When we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives, His power in our lives is evident. Miracles are the work of the Holy Spirit through us. We cannot do anything apart from the power of the Holy Spirit.
The question then is, "how do we allow the Holy Spirit to control us?" The answer to this question is to surrender our lives completely to the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ. His miracles can flow through us as we live for God in everything we do. Miracles are the result of God's power working in us. As a result, miracles can happen not through our own power but from the power of God through us. Many people believe or even teach that Christians have their own power to perform miracles, so they will try to do all these miracles and fail, and then they would doubt their salvation. There is a teaching out there that we are not saved if we do not speak in tongues or speak in a different language, but this is wrong and dangerous teaching. I never speak in tongues, but I experience the presence of God in my life daily. Not everyone has a gift of tongues because God gives speaking of tongues to whomever He wishes. God can use me to place my hands on sick people to heal them if He wants to. If I get bitten by a poisonous snake, and God miraculously protects my body from the effect of poison, then I am protected by His power that is working in me.
As believers, we need to focus on our relationship with God instead of miracles because miracles happen through our relationship with God. Miracles can happen as God directs and works in our lives. Let us be encouraged that the power of God is always at work in our lives. He is changing our hearts every day, which is one of the most powerful miracles in our lives, making us more like our Lord Jesus every day.
Ask yourself these questions: How do miracles work in my life? Who is the source of miracles? What is the greatest miracle in my life?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, you are the source of the miracles. There is nothing impossible in you. Thank you that you are working in my life and giving me the power and strength to do your will. Please help me surrender my life completely to you so that your power can work in and through me for Your glory and honor. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
