One of the important things we need to remember as Christians is always to remember who we are in our Lord Jesus Christ. The moment we genuinely believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, no matter what our conditions are, we become children of God. John 1:12 says, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." Our feelings and thoughts can change because of the influence of this world or the circumstances that we are in, but the truth that we are God's children will never change. We will be forever His children, even when we mess up. We may feel that others have forsaken us, but God will never forsake us. Psalm 27:10 says, "For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in."
When we doubt our relationship with God, we need to say loudly to ourselves that we are God's children. We can say, "I am a child of God!" We have to repeatedly say this until we are encouraged by who we are as a person. Satan will say negative words in our minds, especially when we fail or sin. He may say that we are not good enough, we are failures, and we will never be amount to anything. We need to reject these negative thoughts in our minds because they are not true and not real. We are the sons and daughters of the Living God, who created the heavens, the earth, and everything in it. Our Lord Jesus, who created us, died for our sins so that we become our Heavenly Father's children through faith.
Let us reject the lies that Satan puts in our minds and replace those lies with what the Word of God says about us. Let us say these words to ourselves, "I am a precious child of the Living God! and this is who I truly am." 1 Peter 1:23 says, "for you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God."
Ask yourself these questions: What should I believe of who I am in God? What should I do with the lies that Satan puts in my mind? How did I become a child of God?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for adopting me as your child through my faith in my Lord Jesus Christ. Please help me reject all the lies that Satan puts in my mind. Please help me always to remember that I am your precious child, and my relationship with you is not based on how I think or feel, but it is solely based on your faithful and sacrificial love for me. I am so thankful that I am forever your child, and nothing can separate me from your love. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
