I AM FORGIVEN

Guilt is one of the reasons many of us are still not experiencing the freedom that we have in our Lord Jesus Christ. We allow our past sins to affect us even though we have confessed them and asked for forgiveness. We allow Satan to torment us with condemnation, which drives us to condemn ourselves. We carry the weight of shame all the time and cover it with our good performance. The answer to our guilt is the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the cross, Jesus dealt with our sins once and for all. He bore the punishment of our sin so that He could free us from our guilt. There are no past sins that the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ cannot wash. We suffer in this world because of sin. We are all prone to sin, and this is the reason Jesus came to save us.

Hebrews 9:14 says, "Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins." When we genuinely believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father forgives us immediately for all the sins that we have committed. The only way to handle guilt from our past sins is to remind ourselves that God has forgiven us. We need to say these words to ourselves, "I am forgiven because Jesus has washed away every sin that I have committed by His precious blood that He shed on the cross." God does not condemn us any more, but He has forgiven us.

As believers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we should not live in guilt anymore because we are forgiven. Let us keep on saying these words to ourselves, especially when guilt creeps into our mind, "I am forgiven because Jesus has washed away every sin that I have committed by His precious blood that He shed on the cross. I am forgiven!" Once we confess and ask God to forgive us, we are forgiven indeed. We do not need to punish ourselves because Jesus took the punishment of our sins. Let us live in His freedom.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I believe that God forgives me when I confess and ask Him for forgiveness? Do I believe that God can forgive any sins that I have committed in the past? Am I willing to let go of my guilt and replace it with His freedom and peace?

Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, I confess all my sins to you and ask your forgiveness. You have seen every sin that I have committed, and I am guilty as I am. Please help me to accept your forgiveness just as you have forgiven me. Please help me let go of the guilt that I have been carrying and live in your freedom and peace. Thank you, Jesus, for washing away my sins by your precious blood. Thank you for your forgiveness. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
