Psalm 29 is considered a praise song to the greatness of our God. David wrote in Psalm 29:1-2, "Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings; honor the Lord for his glory and strength. Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness." Our God deserves our honor and praise because He is over all His creation. No matter how Satan tries to destroy the world with sin, God is still in control. God is still the same God who created everything in the universe. He controls the natural forces, such as the wind, water, fire, and the movement of the earth. His voice still commands His creation. At the command of His voice, He controls everything. David continued to write in Psalm 29:10-11, "The Lord rules over the floodwaters. The Lord reigns as king forever. The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace."
God is the source of our strength. He is the one that sustains us every day. With His powerful hands, God carries us through when we are weak. He never abandons nor forsakes us, no matter how we fail or lose our ways. He is constantly watching over us. According to Romans 8:34, our Lord Jesus prays for us while sitting at the right hand of our Heavenly Father. Our God is personal and active in our lives because we are His children. In our sufferings, God is always near to us. He is our God of comfort in times of sorrow and pain. David praised God in this Psalm because of God's greatness of all His creation, and He is the source of His strength.
When I see the grand creation of God, such as the massive mountains, the beautiful blue skies, the amazing radiance of the sun, the waves in the oceans, and the effect of wind on the leaves of the trees, I see the greatness of God and feel His presence over His creation, and I can feel His presence in my heart because He also lives in me.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you). Can I see God's greatness in all His creation that surrounds me? How does it affect my faith in God, seeing His greatness over His creation? Do I believe that God loves me and is always with me?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that you are above all your creation. There is no God besides you. You alone reign and give me strength in times of my needs. I praise and glorify your name, for you are the God of all creation, yet you love and care about me. Please fill me with your presence and give me joy, peace, strength, and wisdom as I go through my day today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
