One of the most comforting assurances we have in our Lord Jesus Christ is that we are eternally secure in Him. God's presence is a constant shield around us. Psalm 66:8-9 beautifully declares, 'Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.' In a world filled with potential harm, with Satan and his demons always ready to disrupt our peace and destroy what is good in us, we can find peace in our unwavering and faithful God. Our relationship with Him is not based on our good performances but on our faith in our Lord Jesus. When we feel that God rejected us because we sinned or made the wrong decision, let us not beat ourselves with guilt and shame, but let us run to God for forgiveness and restoration. God does not hate us when we sin but loves us to repent and be forgiven. God knows that we have weaknesses, and we need Him to save us. David's failure and sin are a good example for us that God is faithful to forgive and restore us. We can never be so far in sin that God cannot forgive and restore us.
The effect of the cross is eternal. The blood that our Lord Jesus shed on the cross can wash away any sin that we have committed. The cross is a great reminder for us that there is always forgiveness in God. When we stumble and fall, God can lift us and continue to preserve our lives in Him. Our bodies will someday return to dust, but our soul and spirit will live on in Him. He will give us brand-new bodies that are no longer susceptible to deterioration and sin. We can trust our God in every situation that we are in because He preserves our lives. There is no problem that is so big that He cannot handle it for us. Let us not think that we are alone and that God does not care about us. God is always there for us. He is holding us with His righteous right hand.
Let us walk with confidence today that we have a God who preserves our lives and keeps us from slipping. God's love towards us is what keeps us in Him. It is more than we can earn or gain with our good works. We are in God because of His faithful love.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What is my greatest assurance in life? Where should I put my trust? What should I do when I fail and sin against Him?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for preserving my life in you. Despite my weaknesses and sins, you are always faithful to keep me as your child. Please help me not to walk in fear but in confidence, knowing and believing that you are always by my side. Nothing can harm me without going through your loving hands. I praise you and glorify You. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
