Everybody wants to know the future. Can you imagine if we know the future? There was a weekly movie show on TV that I used to watch. It's titled "Early Edition." It was a movie about a man who knew what would happen the next day. Every morning when he opened his front door, there was a cat on his front porch sitting on a newspaper for the following day. The guy would read it and know what would happen the next day; as a result, he would try to help people by preventing accidents from happening. He could do it because he knew what would happen tomorrow through the newspaper. For example, if he knew that a person would be hit by a car tomorrow at a certain location (because his newspaper mentioned it), he would try to save the person by helping him not cross that street the following day.
Although we don't have a newspaper that tells us what will happen the following day, as children of God, we know our future is in God. God promised us that He has a wonderful plan for our lives. He is not there to harm or take away what is best for us. He is always there to give us hope and a future. God knows what we will be like 5 or 10 years from now. And this is the reason God wants us to trust Him and obey His word.
If we ever worry about our future, we need to trust our Lord because He has a bright and wonderful plan for our life. We can't know what will happen to us tomorrow, but we know that we have a God who knows the future and is always there for us. So let us not worry about tomorrow, for God has our future.
Ask yourself these questions for application: (Think through carefully and meditate on the questions while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you) Who has my future? Should I worry about tomorrow? Why is it important to pray for my future plans?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for knowing my future. Thank you that you have a wonderful plan in my life. Thank you that I have hope and a bright future in you. I pray for these plans to you (mention your plans to God). Please continue to guide and help me trust you with all my plans. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
