GOD IS OUR REFUGE

The reason many people like action heroes, such as Superman, Batman, Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, or the Avengers, is because they have an extraordinary power that can save the world from the evil ones. Although these action heroes are all imaginary characters, people like to watch them because they want someone who can fight and rescue them from their troubles.

As believers of our Lord Jesus Christ, we have a real action hero. Our Lord Jesus, together with our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit, created the universe and everything in it. Our God created the moon, the stars, the beautiful mountains, the vast oceans, the animals, etc. Our God does not have any equal because He created everything. Satan, the demons, and the evil spirits are underneath Him and submit to His power and authority. He can destroy the universe and everything in it in a split second, and no one can stop Him. However, in spite of God’s mighty power, His love for us is so great that He died for our sins. He did not defeat sin with His mighty power, but He defeated it with His great love by giving up His own life for us.

Because of His great love for all humankind, He is the refuge or a safe place for everyone. When we are in need, we can run to Him for help. He is our shelter from the storm and the shade from the heat. He is greater than the action heroes because He is not an imaginable being, but He is the true living God who loves and cares about us. We do not trust in anything but God Himself alone. If we need action heroes, we need to look up to our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Batman movie, every time the people need him, they would flash the Batman sign in the sky through bright light, but with our Lord Jesus Christ, all we have to do is to pray to Him. He is always available for us, and we can go to Him at any time or any place.

So be encouraged today because we have a mighty Superhero that lives inside of us. His name is Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Write down the challenges that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for being my Superhero. I acknowledge that you are greater than the action heroes that I have seen in the movies. Thank you for loving me. Thank you that you are my refuge or my safe place in my distress, my shelter from the storm, and shade from the heat. Thank you that I can trust you with my life. Please help me now with (mention all your challenges). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
