The word omnipotent means all-powerful or almighty. There is nothing impossible for God to do because of His immeasurable power, which was demonstrated when He created the universe and everything in it. In Isaiah 14:24, it says, "The LORD Almighty has sworn, 'Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.'' There is nothing that can stop the plan and purpose of God because He is all-powerful. But it is very important to note that although there is nothing impossible with God, He cannot sin or commit wickedness because of His Holy nature. He is not a God that can do whatever he wants to do and not care about sin. Many people do not understand this side of God. They think that God is all-powerful, but He does not care about the sin and the suffering of this world.
The greatest power that God had to overcome is the power of sin and death. God had to sacrifice His only Son, Jesus Christ, to defeat the power of sin and death for us. Before Jesus was arrested and crucified by the religious leaders and the Romans, He sweated with blood while He was praying in the garden of Gethsemane. The thought of carrying our sin upon His shoulder was excruciating for Him to do because of His holy nature. He would also experience the wrath of God upon Himself, which was death and separation from the Father. However, it was through the cross that He gave us the victory over sin and death. In 1 Corinthians 15:57, it says, "But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ." No matter how powerful our God is, He sacrificed His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us for our sin because of His great love for us.
God's omnipotence should give us confidence in our lives because there is nothing impossible with God. God can heal our sickness, He can resolve all our issues and problems, and He can provide for all of our needs. However, He works in our lives according to His perfect purpose and plan. When we go through suffering and sickness, we should not think that we are outside of God's power and care. But instead, we need to trust in God's power and care that He is working out His purpose and plan in our lives. Psalm 91:1-2 says, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Ask yourself these questions: What is omnipotent? How does it affect my faith in God knowing that He is all-powerful? Do I completely trust in God in my current problem, knowing that He is omnipotent?
Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.
