GOD IS LOVE

For the last few days now, we have been talking about the different characteristics of God. He is the creator of everything, sovereign (complete authority of everything), Holy (perfect and no sin), Omnipotent (all-powerful), Omniscient (all-knowing), Omnipresent (present everywhere), Immutable (never change), Eternal (exist forever), and justice (judge). Despite God's greatness, people misunderstood who God is because they do not have a personal relationship with Him. They believe that although God is the creator of everything and that He is a very powerful God, He does not care about our suffering and that He is only interested in Himself. They do not understand that God is also love.

No matter how powerful and magnificent our God, He is a loving God that sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sin. It is His love that moved Him to sacrifice our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross to pay for the penalty of our sin. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Since God is holy and could not allow sin in His presence, God could have easily destroyed this world when sin entered into it. However, because of His great love for us, He suffered for the sake of saving us.

With the love that He loves us, God wants us to walk and live by His love. He wants us to love one another because He is love. The more we get to know God, the more we will naturally love others because God's love is contagious. God's love does not encourage us to sin, but His love encourages us to live righteously. Some people believe that since God is love, they can do whatever they want because God is going to love them anyway. We need to be careful of this false understanding of His love because God is also justice. All the characteristics of God are all working together to accomplish His purpose and plan. We need to remind ourselves today that God loves us and that we are important to Him, so no matter what is going on in our lives, we need to trust and rest in His love.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I truly believe in my heart that God loves me? How should I respond to God's great love for me? Why is it important for me to love others?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for loving me even though I am a sinner. Despite your greatness, you chose to love me, and with that, I am forever thankful. Please help me to love you back with my words and actions. Please help me to love others just as you commanded me. Thank you that I am forever secure in your love. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
